The San Saba Community: A Partnership in Learning

SSISD is a 2A school district in the beautiful area of Texas known as the Hill Country. Located at the junction of US Highway 190 and State Highway 16, San Saba is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Students enjoy the hometown spirit and some of the most progressive academic programs in the state.

Thank you to the City for the use of their photos. Community Information Quick Links at Bottom of Page

Community partnerships include active school volunteers, campus site committees, Parent-Teacher Organizations, Dual Credit partners, San Saba Booster Club and other groups.

Partnership in Learning Programs bring the student, teacher, businesses and private citizens together to improve education for all students and foster better understanding and communication between San Saba ISD and the community.

The Flag Project

  • Each year the Flag Project of the Rotary Club of San Saba funds an important community project, the medals, meals and scholarships for students from San Saba ISD, Richland Springs ISD and Cherokee ISD.Rotary Club needs you! We need your student organization. We need your parent organization. We need your schools to volunteer for set up and pick up of Armadillo flags on Varsity game day.
  • The flag projects takes about one hour in the morning beginning at about 6:45 a.m. for set up and about one hour in the afternoon at about 5 p.m. for pick up. The city is divided up into three routes. Each route needs one school sponsor and two or three students. Rotarians will be available to assist the students as well.
  • Your group’s participation will be formally recognized at the next Rotary Academic Awards Banquet in the Spring. Please contact Harold Yates, chair of the Rotary Flag Project, at 623-5621, or me at the numbers below: Rocky Whitely 372-3522 (ISS) for Rotary Club of San Saba.

Volunteering in SSISD Find out how you can get involved. From "Career Discovery Day", to being a mentor, tutor or campus aide, you can help our students succeed. Volunteers please complete a volunteer application, see Parent Involvement Page. San Saba ISD's Partnership programs/projects offer a variety of ways for companies, civic organizations and individual citizens to be involved with our schools, teachers and students. These programs/projects bring the student, teacher, businesses and private citizens together to improve education and foster better understanding and communication between SSISD and the community.  Programs/projects are matched to volunteer interests and experiences.  Volunteers will choose the program or project that best suits their individual time, expertise and interests.
