Message from the Principal

Bruce Tabor

We constantly ask ourselves; is it in the best interest of students and can we back it up with data and research? These are critical years for building the knowledge foundation.

I believe in the American Spirit...

Welcome to San Saba Elementary where students come first. Our students are working hard to do their job and should be rewarded for the effort. This basic concept is the key to success even for our youngest Americans. Elementary students benefit from learning first hand that work is how we help others and how we can make the world a better place. Work is both necessary and satisfying. I believe in the American Spirit. As the world gets flatter with innovative technologies, future workers must be able to compete on a global scale. Our elementary students today will face a much different world economy. I want our students to be inspired by both tangible and intangible rewards of a job well done. They are learning the value of the American Spirit even at this very early age. I have implemented the Louise Oswald American Spirit Award to be given to one 4th grade student annually for best example of work ethic and perseverance.

Learning character & citizenship...

Right now, elementary student life experiences are very limited and sometimes the choices they make reflect this. Mistakes will happen. As adults, we can best help children mature and learn positive behaviors by being good character role models. We must make the most of teachable moments to help students "make things right" while "owning" their mistakes. When parents, caregivers and other family members are involved and we collaborate on teaching and learning opportunities, students benefit greatly. At San Saba Elementary, we seek a positive partnership in the best interest of all students.

A culture of expectation and confidence...

Elementary students are growing in every way at a tremendous pace. These young years are exciting and important. Subject matter taught in the primary grades will provide a foundation of knowledge that will last a lifetime. Elementary school is an excellent place where students can begin to explore their unlimited potential and to take the first steps on their journey toward success. We want students to expect to go to college and look forward to a variety of career pathways. It's our job to instill and safeguard those ideals by encouraging each student with the expectation of fulfilling their dreams. We want our students to believe in themselves and leave elementary school with a confident, creative and inquisitive outlook and a solid foundation of skills, character, and knowledge.

More on Highlights....

I would like to thank the San Saba Fire Department for a demonstration for our Elementary Students. Students enjoyed the experience and learned a lot about being a firefighter. Thank you Fire Chief, James Jones for a great program!

Thank you to our Librarian, Mrs. Cox and all the volunteers who donated time to our Book Fair and to all the parents, other family members, caregivers and teachers who purchased books. It was a great success! I'll have more details for you soon.

We have a new marquee that is located on the corner of Storey and 7th Street.  We are very excited to provide information to everyone as it relates to what is happening at the elementary school campus.

We have installed surveillance cameras at key locations throughout our campus that provides more security for our students and is monitored twenty hours a day, seven days a week.

I would like to share with you policies that will be important:

  • PLEASE DO NOT DROP KIDS OFF IN THE MORNING BEFORE 7:15 AM.
  • PLEASE DO NOT DROP KIDS OFF IN THE MORNING ANYWHERE OTHER THAN IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL ON CHURCH STREET.

If you have any questions regarding pick up or drop off please contact the office at 372-3019. If you are in need of any school supplies for your children please call the office and we will be glad to help.

If you will double click here, it will take you to the Texas Education Agency web site where you can look at the 2005/2006 results for our school. Once at their web site, scroll down to Question # 2 and click campus name; Scroll down to Question # 3 and in the empty box, type in San Saba. When the choice box is displayed, click San Saba EL for the elementary school. This will take you to our Report Card. The school is making real progress and we hope that with your continued support our success will be even better. If you have questions, please contact me at the office (325) 372-3019.
