Dual Credit Program

San Saba ISD continues to enhance a 30 year partnership with Central Texas College by making it possible students to gain up to 66 hours of college credit while in high school.  This is made possible through the Dual Credit Program where students gain college credit and high school credit at the same time.

Student Prospective: Dual Credit and Laptops

Mission | History | Demographics | Resources |

Strategy | Best Practices | The Future |

Dual Credit can help students prepare for college. When choosing a college there are several different things to consider:

  • Do I want to go in state or out of state?
    • With Dual Credit students may start college now at home and transfer for credit with most state supported schools
  • Do I want to go to a public or private university?
    • Dual Credit articulates at 100% with CTC, Texas Tech and other state colleges, courses are accredited by appropriate authorities. The Dual Credit Registrar can help determine articulation at the school of your choice
  • Do I want to attend a 2-year college or a 4-year university?
    • Students may earn credits toward either an Associates or a Bachelor Degree at either 2 year or 4 year colleges
  • Does the school I plan to attend offer a degree that fits my interest?
    • Dual Credit hours are primarily core curriculum courses, leaves more time later for higher level electives
  • Do I want to go to a small or large college?
    • Dual Credit provides insight on the college experience that may help the student to decide which campus size is right for them
  • Do I meet their admission requirements?
    • Either Mrs. Clawson or Mrs. Pannell can help students understand requirements, contact info at the top of this page
  • How will I pay for college tuition?
    • Dual Credit costs less than a traditional college campus: SSISD pays for books and other fees, tuition is based on CTC guidelines, students whose parents need a payment plan, should call the registrar. Some scholarships are available for qualified students. Dual Credit students cannot apply for federal student loans while they are still attending high school.
