Howdy Dillo Nation,
After driving the roads and in consultation with local Highway Patrol, SSISD has determined it will be safest to cancel school tomorrow, January 27th. Many of the roads in town are in good shape. However, the county roads did not thaw and dry enough to prevent dangerous conditions for morning traffic. The weather is supposed to heat up Tuesday and we should be good for Wednesday. While a late start may have been doable, we would rather make an error on the side of safety rather than put parents, students, staff, and buses in potentially unsafe situations.
We are working with other districts to reschedule athletic events and will post those updates as soon as we can.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
To our student drivers, while the roads appear to be fine, take it easy. Patches of ice can sneak up on you well after the temperature is above freezing, especially in shaded, or low spots, on less traveled county roads.
Enjoy one more day to rest up.
Thank you very much.
