San Saba ISD Earns State’s Highest Fiscal Accountability Rating
San Saba Independent School District official announced that the district received a rating of “A” for “Superior Achievement” under the Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability system. The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of San Saba ISD’s financial Management and reporting system.
This is the 16thyear of School FIRST (Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas), a financial accountability system for Texas school district developed by the Texas Education Agency in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 76thTexas Legislature in 1999 and amendments to House Bill 5, 83rdTexas Legislature, Regular Session, 2013. The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas’ school finance system.
San Saba ISD is very proud to provide great experiences for students through academics, extracurricular events and taking care of facilities. The SSISD School Board has been prudent in evaluating expenditures that enrich the student experience. AVID, college and career readiness opportunities, dual credit and extra-curricular events that focus on “complete” student experience have been the vision. Athletics, academics, agriculture, and fine arts activities that challenge students in a positive way have been promoted to build “gritty” resilient Armadillos! These are activities that San Saba ISD is proud to boast while securing a healthy fund balance. Plans to increase staff salaries and increase benefits in the district have been a priority as well. The insurance contribution was increased this previous year with every employee receiving a 13thpay check in December. It is a great time to be an Armadillo!
