Course: Introduction to Construction Careers (ICC) 7090

Course Description: A course to acquaint students with the major areas of construction, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, air conditioning, concrete and brick masonry and painting and decorating. Students will complete a woodworking project of their own choosing to be entered in woodworking contests.
Course: Upholstery and Furniture Repair (IUFR) 7091

Course Description: This course is designed for students to learn accepted procedures and practices that prevail in the repair and upholstery of furniture. Instruction will include procedures and standards for repairing frames, renewing show wood, cutting and sewing. Students will be encouraged to develop good work habits including how to identify, use and care for tools and equipment.

Course Description: A course to enable students to understand the fundamentals of cabinet making, including design and function, identify and understand the uses of woods, fasteners, hardware, glass and mirrors, read blueprints and work drawings, plan material needs and estimate costs, understand and apply principles of mathematics to measurements.

Course: Drafting (Intro to Graphic Communications Careers) (IGCC) 7093

Course Description: A course to teach the use of drafting tools and techniques and computer aided drafting. Students will be introduced to the drawings that are used in creating house plans including floor plans, plot plans, elevations, schedules and construction detail plans. Accepted lettering practices and styles, relationship between points, lines planes, multiview drawings, legal requirements, and use of standards, symbols and conventions will be incorporated into the final product.

Grade Level: 11-12
Course Description: This is a beginning technical laboratory course designed to provide an academically stimulating environment for students interested in and desiring to begin computer-aided drafting. Instruction includes computer hardware, CAD software, and technical drawings and problems generated and solved by using CAD. The interrelated human, scientific, and technological dimensions of CAD are examined using the resources of mathematics, science, and design skills used commonly in CAD-related career. This course can be part of an articulated Tech-Prep process with appropriate approval.
